Chairman:
Michael Anderson
Since leaving Cambridge University, the City and London Business
School, Michael Anderson has had hands-on experience for many
years at raising finance, investing and managing in early-stage
growth companies. He is a Director of Business Plan Services
Ltd and a non-executive director of four other companies. He
also gives regular talks on business plan writing and angel
investment.

Professor
Dame Julia Polak
Professor Dame Julia Polak graduated from the University of
Buenos Aires, Argentina and obtained her postgraduate training
in the UK. She became Professor and the Director of Tissue Engineering
and Regenerative Medicine Centre, Imperial College in 1997.
She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Imperial
College Institute of Biomedical Engineering. She is a current
member of the Tissue Engineering Society International, Academy
of Medical Sciences (2002 – 2005) and the European Editor
of Tissue Engineering. She is the author of 982 original papers,
115 review articles and Editor/Author of 25 books and is one
of the most Highly Cited Researchers in her field.

Peter
Raymond
After eight years as the European Director of Corporate Development
for The Dexter Corporation, a Fortune 500 Company, Peter started
UMIST Ventures fron scratch as the technology transfer company
of UMIST. Over a nine year period Peter established 20 spin-out
companies and floated three on the LSE. Peter was chairman of
Tepnel Life Sciences from 1997 until 2003. Peter has since been
involved with over 50 biotechnological start ups at Sheffield,
Manchester and Liverpool Universities and is currently Chairman
of Mersey Bio, the bio Incubator for Liverpool University. Peter
is also Chairman of Bionow the Biotechnology Steering Group
for the North West Development Authority and a Vice President
of The Parliamentary and Scientific Committee.

is a partner in venture capital LP's specialising in healthcare
which has active investments in the Europe and the US.

Dr
Francis Pinto
A physician with over 40 years of global experience
in the healthcare industry, Dr. Pinto has extensive experience
in research & product development and business turnarounds.
Prior assignments include Abbott, Pfizer, BMS and a board directorship
with Glaxo Group Limited in the UK. Currently he is the Chief
Executive of the Dutch biotechnology firm Pharming Group N.V.
and Chairman of the Xandev Foundation.

Dr
Gareth Roberts – Chief Scientific Officer
Gareth started his career in science in the
field of neuropsychiatric disorders with the Medical Research
Council and progressed to building and leading a 10 strong team
within Imperial College School of Medicine. Subsequently he
worked for Smithkline Beecham as a Group Director in Drug Discovery.
He has
been a scientific referee for the MRC, Wellcome Trust, a number
of charities and scientific journals. In addition he has also
acted as an advisor for the National Endowment for Science
Technology and Arts (NESTA), the DTI (SEEDA) and MBA programmes.
During
the course of these activities he has published over 150 articles
in refereed journals, written or edited 4 books, gained an
MBA, and been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Gareth
has been involved as advisor/business angel to a number of
start up companies, and has been a co-founder of Genostic
Pharma founded 1998, Proteom founded 1999 and Isohelix founded
2003. Gareth is also a director of Sciona Ltd and non-executive
director of the British Library. |

Wesley
Randle – Business Development Associate
Wesley
completed his Applied Biology degree (BSc, Hons) at the University
of Bath in 2002 and a PhD in Tissue Engineering from Imperial
College, University of London in 2005. Additionally, Wesley
worked for an e-lectures company (www.boxmind.com), and for
GSK (Ware) on human cord blood in vitro models.
Wesley
has published in international journals and conferences and
has won three business competitions over two years in conjunction
with the Imperial College Entrepreneurs centre. Wesley has
also found success with a career in football over the years
playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hereford United, Stevenage
Borough, Team Bath, Imperial College and the University of
London. |
