Intellectual
Property Stream
One of the
key assets of NovaThera is its intellectual property pipeline.
The founding
terms with Imperial College secure rights to past, present and future
intellectual property emanating from the Tissue Engineering and
Regenerative Medicine group. The intellectual property framework
confers to NovaThera first rights of refusal to commercially exploit
IP arising from research in TERM on an ongoing, renewable basis.
NovaThera continues to exercise its rights in this regard.
NovaThera is
also the lead commercial partner in a DTI sponsored consortium focussed
on the development of practical applications of stem cell technologies
(see Press Releases). The consortium features
the Universities of Southampton, Cardiff, Imperial, Cambridge, Manchester
and the Roslin Institute. NovaThera has first rights of refusal
to commercially exploit technologies developed through the consortium
research program.
NovaThera has
also obtained an exclusive license in the regenerative medicine,
wound care and dermatology fields to the key sol-gel bioactive glass
(“TheraGlass®”) patent portolios of both Imperial College
and USBiomaterials Corporation.
NovaThera will
continue to either develop or acquire Intellectual Property covering
key aspects of technology which fit within current and future product
development activities.
